It has been confirmed that Mike D and Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys recently signed a book deal that will allow them to publish their Memoir. The publishing house that they signed with is the same publishing company that published Jay-Z’s Decoded.
The Beastie Boys have been on the scene since 1981 and have infused Hip Hop with their own style which mixes Hip Hop, Funk, Rock and a number of other genres. Mike D, Ad-Rock and the late MCA released a total of 8 studio albums that spanned nearly 30 years. The group has been a representation of longevity in an industry in which that characteristic is rare.
The result of signing this new book deal with be a co-written memoir on the group’s career scheduled to be released in 2015.
During a brief interview with The New York Times, publisher, Julie Grau said, The Beastie Boys are “interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience,” She continued, “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.”
With the recent death of the third member of the group, MCA, many fans will be interested in delving into the intricate details of the group’s progression over the years. It has not yet been revealed as to how MCA’s side of the story will be told.
