It has been confirmed that the funeral of the recently deceased rapper Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly will be held in his hometown of Atlanta, GA. This news was confirmed by Murray Brothers Funeral Home, who will be officiating the funeral. The funeral is set for next week. There will be a viewing for the public throughout the afternoon and evening on Wednesday, May 8th, and the funeral will be held on Thursday, May 9th, at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.

Kelly was found in his home unconscious and unresponsive on this past Wednesday, May 1st. He was rushed by ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center, and he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Shortly after Kelly was pronounced dead his mother Donna Kelly, and So So Def Records released a joint statement concerning the death of the rapper. According to reports by TMZ, Kelly’s death was the result of a drug overdose. This is based on information given to first responders by Kelly’s mother. The medical examiner’s office has not released their official findings, so the conclusion that he died from an overdose is still considered speculation at this time.

Kelly’s best friend and band mate Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith has finally responded to the death of his friend. He recently released a statement concerning the death and legacy of his friend.

“Chris Kelly was my Best Friend,” Smith revealed in a statement, as reported by E! Online. “He was like a brother. I love him and will miss him dearly.”

“Our friendship began as little boys in first grade. We grew up together. It was a blessing to achieve the success, travel the world and entertain Kris Kross fans all around the world with my best friend,” Smith continued. “It is what we wanted to do and what brought us happiness. I will always cherish the memories of the C-Connection.”

He finished with a final shoutout, writing, “KRIS KROSS FOREVER, the ‘MAC DADDY’ and ‘DADDY MAC.'”
