News hit the wires early this morning that former Kriss Kross member, Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly had died from what is being preliminarily assessed as a drug overdose, although the medical examiner has not given their official findings. The postulation of a drug overdose comes from what officials were able to decipher from information collected by medical personnel and police officers.
Kelly is best known as one half of the 90’s group Kriss Kross who was signed to So So Def Records and made an indelible impression on the decade with their single “Jump”. The song brought the group instantaneous fame, touring with the likes of Michael Jackson, and even having their own video game at one point.
Unfortunately, the group was never able to recapture the success of that first release and they faded into obscurity.
In 2009 several photos of Chris Kelly with bald spots in his head surfaced and rumors began to spread that the rapper had cancer. In response, Kelly explained that he had alopecia, which causes your hair to thin and fall out and that he did not have cancer or any other life threatening decease.
“My health is good, I just got alopecia, I don’t have cancer, or any other sort of diseases,”
It was only a couple of months ago that the group performed at the 20 Year Anniversary of So So Def Records.
