Billboard Numbers Starting To Come In: Good News For Bow Wow & Omarion, But Is It?

Posted By on December 18, 2007

This weeks official sales don’t come in until tomorrow but it looks like good news for Bow Wow & Omarion as their “Face Off” album will sell around 93,500 copies to come out #1. Just behind the tag team is Cash Money Records own Baby's “5 Stunna” that is expected to sell 72,500 discs, with R&B star Mario's sophomore effort “Go!” to be a couple steps behind at 64,600 copies.

The question is, IS this good news for Bow Wow and Omarion? Locking down the debut number 1 spot and only selling 93,500 copies? To me having two pop stars co-authoring & headlining a disc, doing double promotional duties, and to not break 100k the first might say something about the continuing music industry problems.

Then again, their single “Girlfriend” is a low #44 on the “Billboard Top 100” chart, only #23 on the “Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs” Chart, and not even on top 25 “Hot 100 Airplay” chart. Their video isn’t getting much love from MTV’s “TRL” (not on the current countdown), and same goes for BET, so maybe it has to do with the music, and single itself.

You decide for yourself.
