Erykah Badu Launches Remix Contest

The Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter/actress Erykah Badu, enlisted some of the most talented underground producers and engineers in hip-hop for her fourth album New Amerykah. "The music is the star," says Erykah, "I just laid down my vocals and let the music breathe while the melodies tell the stories." Now Erykah is reaching out to all you producers, beat makers and musicians to remix her track "Real Thang." Contestants can download the acappella version of "Real Thang," originally produced by Madlib, and remix it with their own style. "Creativity is key, so all types of remixes are welcomed (hip-hop, r&b/soul, house, broken beat, rock, reggae, etc)," a press release stated. The grand prize winner will recieve a huge prize including a top-of-the-line DJ package, their version of the song featured on radio, mixshows, mixtapes and a spot on Erykah Badu's MySpace page, Okayplayer and Fusicology. Two runner-up winners will get gear from Stanton, their remix on Erykah's MySpace page, and a Remix Magazine subscription.
