The shooting attempt on the life of Maybach Music Group CEO, Rick Ross, spurred a great deal of controversy and speculation. The rapper’s #1 nemesis, 50 Cent, weighed in almost immediately after the news of the incident hit the airwaves. The G-Unit General was quoted as saying that he believed that the entire incident was staged. “Freeway” Rick Ross, the former drug kingpin who’s name The Maybach CEO assumed for a stage name, said that he was not surprised that an attempt was made on Ross’ life. He said that the rapper doesn’t understand the rules of the street, and it leads to him saying things that put him in the crosshairs of a number of people.
Until now, even with all of the speculation and the allegations, Ross remained silent, an impromptu interview with MTV’s Sway Calloway, in which he stated that he has remained positive and is determined to move forward.
“[There are] no suspects and we not here to speculate on any suspects,” he revealed on Grammy night concerning his shooting. “I’m just staying positive, I’m moving forward and I’m just staying on top of my game.”
He readily acknowledged that his life has been altered because of the incident, but said that he will still find a way to do the things he loves to do.
“You most definitely gotta make some adjustments, but at the same time I’mma live my life and I’mma do what I love to do, and that’s make music,” he said.
Ross explained that his focus remains on music, obviously trying to take the focus off of the incident.
