Rapper Beanie Sigel, Damon Dash and Pro-Keds have just teamed up to bring back the icon sneaker to hip-hop’s new generation.
Pro-Keds, part of early hip-hop fashion, were most popular in the 70s on the streets of the Bronx. Now, Roc-A-Fella Records CEO Damon Dash is looking to bring the look back to the forefront as a tie-in to Beanie Sigel’s State Property clothing line.
“PR0-keds are the original sneakers. Back in the days everyone had PRO-Keds. We grew up with them,” said recording artist Beanie Sigel.
The partnership will release a series of color coordinated sneakers to match with garments from the State Property line. The State Property logo will be embroidered on the heel of the sneaker.
Three versions of the “Iconic” sneaker are scheduled to be exclusively previewed at a pre-launch at Sneaker Villa in Philadelphia on February 26 and then released two days later on February 28.
“We like to walk it the way we talk it. All of our artists are entrepreneurs in their own right, and we always advocate and support any business ventures they take on for themselves” Damon Dash said in a statement. “We’re very proud of Beanie Sigel as he continues to grow as an artist and businessman, and look forward to a successful partnership with Pro Keds on the State Property sneaker.”
