RapBasement: Introduce yourself.
Blazed Mic: Blazed Mic Misled Entertainment. I write, I make music, I make
beats, I record, and I'm sexy.
Rap Basement: How are you sexy?
Blazed Mic: Haha. I don't know. I just be fuckin' around sayin'
stupid shit to catch peoples attention. Once I got it....I let 'em know
how I really feel.
Rap Basement: How did you pick the name Blazed Mic?
Blazed Mic: I didn't really pick it. I kinda decided it when
it was said in a sentence by someone I knew. I still to this day don't
remember which friend of mine it was, but that's how it went down. We
were all sittin around, and one of them asked me "Are you Blazed, Mike?"
and at the time I had the rap name "Ecko". I was thinkin about changin'
that anyway at the time, cause I knew it was too common and not really
"my" name. Know what I'm sayin?. So once whoever it was said that, I was
like, "Blazed....Mike. Blazed....Mic. Hell yeah, I like that!" So it's
kinda got a double meaning to it. Just like everything else I do. Two
sides.
Rap Basement: What part of Florida are you from?
Blazed Mic: Pensacola baby. 850. Home of Roy Jones Jr, Derrick
Brooks, and Bodyhead Ent.
Rap Basement: Many people don't know this is actually your second
release. What do you think changed from Different I to Different II?
Blazed Mic: Shit man. ALOT of things. When I first started out,
it was all about "let me show these people I can rap". "Let me show them
I got lyrics". Know what I mean? I was SO focused on the whole rhyming
more than one word at a time thing. The multisylibals and all that. So
that's just what I did. I wrote to impress, basically. Also, the first
CD I started writing like at 15. I had the WHOLE first album all planned
out and ready to go. All the songs written. But as I started to record
the tracks, I wasn't feelin' it at all. So I remade the whole damn thing.
Like every track was scrapped. Meanwhile, years are passing by and I'm
sittin here STILL talking about "yeah my first CDs comin". "It'll be here
soon....look out for it". So, also at that time I was not only new to
writing, but I was new to making beats. I had some little computer program
to make beats, and didn't know really what to do with it. So the whole
first project, including beats, recording, my voice, and how I did it
- was like, weak. It was talented, but it was weak. The thing with this
new cd, is that it's so much more progression from the first. I met alot
of new people along the way that just showed me my rights and wrongs.
Told me this and that. And also from judging it myself in peoples cars,
how it sounded my first time in the club. All that. So not only is it
an all around better PROFFESIONAL sounding album, but it's alot more mature.
I grew up a little bit, and started to attract the other audiances.
Rap Basement: Your single Im On Fire, in title seems similar
to some other songs out at moment like Lloyd Banks - On Fire. What sets
this apart from the others?
Blazed Mic: It all depends really how you're lookin' at it. If
you look at songs like "this has been done", or "this is similar to that"....it
doesn't really separate it that much. If you're looking at it like, "This
is Mic" and "This is what Mic sounds like havin' a good time on a track"....then
you're gonna enjoy it, and it'll be completely different than a "Lloyd
Banks" havin fun on a track....or whoever else my song sounds like for
the moment. Know what I mean?
Rap Basement: So did you rip off Lloyd banks or what ?
Blazed Mic: Haha. Nah. That, as a matter of fact, was one of
the first songs I recorded about 8 months ago after finishing promoting
the first CD. So, aside from not wanting to jock another rapper's topic,
it was done before the song was even made or out.
Rap Basement: I heard you are in talks with Roy Jones label Bodyhead
right now. How is that whole experience going ?
Blazed Mic: Well. It's going okay. To tell the truth, not as
good as I would want it to be just yet. But like everything, you gotta
wait your time and play your role. Then you strike. Know what I'm sayin?
One of my good friends "Venile" aka "Boneface" just signed with them inside
a crew with his brother called "Rated PG's". So, through him I'm getting
in there more and more, and talking to people about my music. My demos.
My songs. Whatever. I've done a couple tracks up there through a woman
I know named Pam. Shes got a singer artist named "Tiffany Rojas" that
did songs in there, and I would go in there and get a little 16 on her
song here.....or do a remix to one of her songs there. Whatever I could.
That's how I got known. But as for the experience, it feels good. It feels
right to be inside a studio with people who know what they're doing. People
doin' their thing. Just feels like you're in the right spot. So, they
got alot of artists on the label and they all have their set dates to
come out. Roy's got his second compilation cd comin' out. They got all
this shit goin right now. So for right now, I'm just goin' there, gettin
to know people, and waitin my turn. Then when it settles, I'll have thoughts
about trying to be serious with BodyHead and try to work up a deal or
a distribution deal. Never know what could happen.
Rap Basement: Whats in the future?
Blazed Mic: For me in general?
Rap Basement: Yes
Blazed Mic: Shit. I never really know. All I really know is I'm
pushin this second CD real well. Alot better than the first one. Sales
are pretty good, and since I've got a site up that most don't have, that
helps alot. Right after I finished the first cd, I knew I wanted it to
be a trilogy. A little underground, process of trying to make it, going
through a change kinda thing. So definitely the future holds the third
and final Different, but what it will contain? I don't even know yet.
Right now, with this cd, it's at a fork in the road. I got two ways to
go. Different III is whatever road I chose.
Rap Basement: Any last words?
Blazed Mic: Last words? Yeah I got a few, but they won't be my
last. Guarantee that. I just really want to say that, throughout all the
comparisons, the jealousy, and whatever other obstacles I got...I always
pull through 'em, and come back 10x stronger. So, to ANYONE who thinks
that I'm gonna give up the game or whatever I do, for them or what they
say....you're on crack. 'Cause although I'm in the position where I'm
just a normal nobody right now, with a mild local buzz, I'm rising to
the top regardless. Time will prove that for me. And when it does, people
who supported me along the way, will get my support back in the end. Peace.
