Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black

Johnny Depp …. Jack Sparrow
Geoffrey Rush …. Barbossa
Orlando Bloom …. Will Turner
Keira Knightley …. Elizabeth Swann
Jack Davenport …. Norrington
Jonathan Pryce …. Governor Weatherby Swann

The movie is inspired by the famous ride with the same name. It’s a story
of pirates who opened a treasure box full of medals of gold and were cursed
as ghosts. They don’t feel or die and their greed never stops. To lift
the curse they have to return every peice of the gold and blood of the
last one’s taker. They found every peice except for the last which Elizabeth
had so they came and “kidnapped” her. William, a blacksmith
, who loves Elizabeth asks for Jack to help him rescue her only to find
out he is involved in the mix.

“Disney is making a movie about pirates”, that
doesn’t really seem that interesting because of the usual limits that
Disney’s name brings to the table. It also did not help for it to come
from a theme park ride, however, the movie rises above expectations and
turns into one of the best movies you will see this year.

The Plot is well put together compared to most recent movies. Though
“Too Disney” at moments, it provides for alot of action , humor
, horror and drama which makes it a perfect summer movie. There is alot
of entertainment and comedy thrown in, to make it go at a fast pace. The
movie captures your attention from the begining and keeps you thinking
untill the end but you still notice the long time run after a while.

Lord Of The Ring’s Orlando Bloom stars in another epic movie . Though
i prefer him as Legolas he isn’t bad at all playing William Turner. Keira
Knightley ( Bend It Like Beckham ) makes her first big hollywood movie
and impresses with a decent preformace and the good looks. Eventhough
everyone did their part well , Johnny Depp steals the show with his weird
character. He has some sort of balance problem and doesn’t look very bright
but comes through when it counts and keeps comming with the funny lines.

Director Gore Verbinski , most known for the recent blockbuster “The
Ring”, shows his talents in this movie. With a very well done set
and choreography plus an impressive digital effects team , they almost
make you believe in ghosts. Overall this movie is almost perfect. The
only things I didn’t like were the “disney” moments which there
aren’t many of but they’re still there.

After a dissapointing begining to the summer season with only a few films
worth watching, The Pirates lift the curse with an incredible movie.
