“MTV has picked up second seasons of reality marriage series Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica and the Snoop Dogg-hosted sketch show Doggy Fizzle Televizzle.
The channel ordered 10 additional segments of its surprise ratings hit “Newlyweds.” The series, which trails the marital follies of pop stars Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, bowed to 2.5 total million viewers in August and has yet to fall off. It drew another 2.5 million (1.9 million in 18-49) last week.
Snapping up a six-episode order, “Doggy Fizzle” improved the network’s 10 p.m. timeslot by 30% from its previous occupant during its June debut. Last week’s episode averaged 1.3 total million viewers (866,000 in 18-49).
New seasons of both programs will premiere early next year.
MTV also has committed to a 13th season of reality warhorse Road Rules.”
