Snoop Dogg & EPMD Jam At JAM Awards
J.A.M. is an acronym for Justice, Arts and Music, which were the three categories awards were presented in. Chuck D of Public Enemy was given the Justice award, presumably for his social conscious work; graffiti artist Lee Quinones received the Arts Award and Wyclef Jean received the Music Award.
Snoop Dogg and EPMD turned in the best performances of the evening, with LL Cool J bolstering EMPD's set during "Rampage" and DMC collaborating onstage with Snoop Dogg for the Run-D.M.C. classic "Sucker MCs." Snoop also performed "Gin and Juice" and "Nuthin' But a G Thang."
After a gritty performance from Brooklyn's M.O.P., Everlast offered up a cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" that seemed out of place amid the old-school rap vibe of the evening.
Raekwon, Dead Prez and Jim Jones also performed at the event.
