TI lands "American Gangster" with Denzel and Crowe

Posted By on August 2, 2006

After an impressive turn on ATL, T.I. is now working on American Gangster, a film starring Academy Award winning actors, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

The film centers on a 1970s drug kingpin who brings heroin into Harlem, NY by sneaking it into the coffins of American soldiers coming home from Vietnam. Tip will incarnate Washington’s nephew. According to IMDB.com, RZA is also involved in the film. There’s no word on whether he will score the film or star in it.

In related news, T.I and his partner, Jason Geter recently sold a script entitled For Sale, to New Line Cinema. Launching the film division of Tip and Geter’s Grand Hustle Entertainment, the script takes place in an Atlanta used-car lot. Reports say T.I. may play one of the salesmen.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta emcee is keeping busy on the music end. He is soon to be featured on Beyonce’s B’Day album and Justin Timberlake’s forthcoming single, “My Love” off Future Sex/Love Sounds. A video is slated to be shot next week for the Timberlake single. Tip is also working on his fifth solo effort, T.I. vs Tip. No date has been set as of yet.
