The announcement of the funeral services comes a week after Bulter’s death. The 33-year-old rapper died Dec 4 on his bed while staying at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles.
News of Butler’s passing sent shockwaves around the rap community, as artists remembered Butler as a pioneer who, along with fellow UGK member Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, influenced and paved the way for various artists to garner success in the music world.
An official cause of death for Butler is still unknown as autopsy results will not be made available for weeks. Although the public will be allowed to attend funeral services, Butler’s interment will be open only to family and close friends.
Local police will be on hand to ensure the family’s wishes are carried out. Anyone seen attempting to take pictures during the service will be escorted out of the civic center.
