It was earlier this week that Pittsburgh, PA native, Wiz Khalifa, confirmed that he had inked a major endorsement and branding partnership deal with the legendary shoe and athletic apparel company. The rapper used Twitter to make his fans aware of the great news. Up to this point, the rapper, who has always been a fan of Converse Chuck Taylor’s, had only did a commercial for the storied brand, but this deal, according to Wiz, his major.

Khalifa has been known to wear the Chuck Taylor brand of Converse throughout his career and the brand was also an inspiration in naming his record label, “The Taylor Gang”.
Converse has made a concerted effort to be part of the Hip Hop community, having worked closely with artist such as Kid Cudi and Big Boi. The company also still maintain and recording studio on Brooklyn, NY (Converse Rubber Tracks) where a number of artist have used the studio to work on and develop projects, including GZA, Action Bronson, and MaG.
Khalifa’s announcement surfaces less than one month after he and Amber Rose had their first child, Sebastian.
